Currently, I am in my first job position in Surgical Technology. I apply the procedures I learned for sterile technique, surgical practice, and how to clean and dispose of surgical waste. Everyday I encounter different surgeries, and problem solve to assist the surgeon and anticipate what the patient and the surgeon need. This starts once I get my supplies until the patient leaves the room.
I have learned many things volunteering for Globus Relief. They gather donated medical supplies, funds, clothing, and other needs for third world countries. They also assist countries devastated by natural disasters.
At Globus Relief I helped sort and label medical supplies, and document the amount of clothing donated to the facility. It really improved my label reading for medical supplies, and experience the importance of what they do throughout the world.
